Jalandhar, October 6, 2015: On the eve of world teacher day, today Guru Nanak Dev University College organised an interaction session with teachers and the students about the great importance of inclusive quality education. The interaction session was headed by Dr.V.K Tewari, General Secretary, World Federation of Teachers Unions (WFTU-FISE).
Dr. V.K Tewari presented the key note address and shared the vision and mission of UNESCO and ILO for the quality of education for sustainable development. The collective efforts of ILO and UNESCO finally resulted in the adoption of ILO-UNSECO Recommendation concerning the status of teachers, for school education, by the special intergovernmental conference held by UNSECO in Paris on October 5, 1966.
Dr. Tewari explained that the two recommendation have become instruments for setting standards internationally with regard to recruitment, employment, preparation and further education of teaching personnel as well as the need of creating proper infrastructure conducive to quality teaching and learning processes
Dr. Jaspal Singh Randhawa, principal hailed the UNESCO’s massive programme of education for all launched in 1990 and continued with the renewed synergies in 2000 and recently in 2015 in the UNESCO conference held in republic of Korea. He laid stress on inclusive, equitable, quality education from pre-primary t the university level.
