Glowing tributes paid to Indira Gandhi

Ludhiana, October 31, 2014: Glowing tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her Martyrdom here today. The function was held at Shimlapuri, where the party recalled her services to the country and the great sacrifice she laid down to safeguard the unity and the integrity of the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Former District Congress Committee Ludhiana president Pawan Dewan recalled how the late Prime Minister sacrificed her life for safeguarding the secularism and the unity and integrity of the country. “It was her immense and unfailing faith in the secular values that ultimately led to her paying with her life”, he said, while adding, all the congressmen must learn from her great sacrifice which has hardly any parallel in the modern history.

Dewan said, the Gandhi family had a tradition of sacrifice for the country. He pointed out, it was not only Gandhi alone, but her son late Rajiv Gandhi also who laid down his life for the unity and integrity of the country. The workers observed a two minutes silence in the memory of their leader after paying floral tributes on her portrait.
