GKU Observes World Veterinary Day

Talwandi Sabo, May 1, 2017: The College of Agriculture of Guru Kashi University celebrated World Veterinary Day by organising an expert lecture on "Zoonotic Diseases Prevention and control" by Dr.Davinder Singh Sidhu, Incharge of Polyclinic, Badal. Deliberating on the topic, he emphasized on the role of health care in animals adding that there were many serious diseases like rabies, Brucellosis , TB, Bird flu, etc. which can jeopardize the animal livestock economy. He elaborated the ways to tackle such problems and highlighted the strengthening of research on epidemiology and prognostics by providing funds & policy support.
The Guru Kashi University Vice Chancellor Col. Dr. B.S. Dhaliwal appreciated the efforts of the college for providing exposure to students by organising expert lectures on topical subjects.
The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Jagpal Singh hailed the subject matter covered in the talk.
Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman said that animal husbandry & livestock health care are of paramount importance in the sustainability of agriculture.
Earlier, the Dean of the College Dr. Ajmer Singh Sidhu introduced the speaker and welcomed the participants. The session was conducted by Dr. Darshan Singh. On this occasion Dr. Darshan Singh Sidhu was honoured with the presentation of memento. The participants including students and faculty members had a live interaction with the expert.
