GKU holds blood donation camp

Blood donation camp being organised by GKY at Talwandi Sabo.

Talwandi Sabo, November 18, 2014: Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo organised 8th blood donation camp on Tuesday, which was inaugurated by Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, M.L.A.,Talwandi Sabo. He was welcomed by Gurlabh Singh Sidhu Chairman, Sukhraj Singh Sidhu M.D., Dr. N.S.Malhi Vice-Chancellor and other officers of University. A team from Govt.Medical College, Patialaa headed by Dr. Deepika and Dr. Jasmine performed the job of assisting the donors by conducting tests and blood donates. Long before the inauguration of the camp, long queues of boys and girls student were there. Indeed students were extremely enthusiastic to donate blood. Seeing this enthusiasm, the authorities decided to hold another camp in the near future. More than 200 blood units were donated on this occasion. Not only the volunteer students but the staff members also donated blood in this camp.

Chief Guest Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu congratulated the organizers and expressed the hope that all the educational institutions should organize such blood donation camps to save valuable lives.

Dr. N.S.Malhi Vice-Chancellor motivated the students that they should participate in such type of noble cause which helps the society a lot. Donating blood is service of humanity in real sense, he added.

Apart from others, Babu Singh Mann (Senior Akali leader), Amandeep Singh Sidhu Advocate, Jathedar Gurtej Singh (Member SGPC), Avtar Singh Mainuaana (Truck Union President) and Sukhveer Singh Chattha (National General Secretary, Akali Dal Youth) were also present on this occasion.

Dr. A.K.Kansal (Dean Basic Sciences), Prof. Sukhdevinder Singh Kaurra (P.R.O.), Prof. Jagwinder Singh and N.S.S. Programme Officers effectively coordinated the camp.
