Ludhiana, February 25, 2016: GGNIVS staff and students organised cultural and sports activities. Harshdeep of BBA 2nd, accorded a very warm and enthusiastic welcome to the college Director Prof Manjeet Singh Chhabra, who has always been an enormous inspiration to students. While expressing his indebtedness to the Director, Prof. Chhabra for facilitating an environment where such events are a norm, Harshdeep revealed that reason for organizing such events was to allow the students to rejuvenate themselves and gear up for change in weather.
Students and staff members honoured the college director through bouquet presentation.The program began with an exhilarating Gidha performance and set the mood for the day.
Solo dance by Gaba had everyone bursting into peels of laughter. Group song was followed by tug of war that seemed to getthe adrenaline flowing not just through the contestants but the viewers as well.
Three-legged race had its light moments too. Spoon race was fun. A string of solo songs exhibited the abundance of inherent talent of Punjabi youngsters. Dance by Pallavi and simranjit left one and all spell bound. Everyone seemed to have come out of their winter long slumber to break free from mundane and monotonous existence. Blooming flowers , sprouting leaves and sunny spring weather all seem to complement the celebrations to enhance the joy. It was colour and cultural bonanza manifested through folk songs , folk dances and wide spectrum of colours, all creating anaura of effervescence.
Paramjot and Bhawanpreet from B.com regular 4th sem. bagged first prize in three-leg race, while Arshdeep of B.A 4th sem., and Kiran of B.com 6th won the second place. Amongst the boys Sahil/Raman, Rahul/Mridul and Sunil/Arun won first ,second and third place respectively. In lemon-spoon race,amongst the boys, Vipin,Dashmeet and Shubham were sequenced first, second and third ,while amongst the girls Shilpa, Kiran and Sonia were placed in descending order .
Vipin and Ramanpreet won first and second slot in hit the wicket. Tug-of- war was a real battle that saw robert and his team emerge as first position holders, while manjot and his group attained second place.
The winners of various games were given away the prizes. The program ended with the director highlighting that the motive of such activities was to provide the students with opportunities to reinvent themselves so as to become well rounded individuals by the time they move out of college.
