Ludhiana, February 13, 2015: MBA 2nd and 4th  Semester students of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology along with their faculty members Ripudamam Kaur, Harinder Kaur and Parvinder Singh visited Verka Milk Plant at Ludhiana Today. This industrial visit enabled the students to understand the milk procurement process and the processing activities undertaken by  The Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited popularly known as MILKFED Punjab, for supplying wholesome, pure and nutritious brand Verka  universally trusted by us. Students were familiarised with the production process and also made aware about the quality control initiatives taken at each stage to ensure that defective products do not reach the consumer.

To facilitate the visit, Plant Trainees Jaspreet Kaur and Amandeep Singh guided the students and took them to different sections like cleaning bay, Pasteurization plant, dry powder manufacturing, cheese, dahi, ghee production departments. In all these sections MILKFED ensures high levels of hygiene that is critical for food products. Students were also taken to different milk, cheese, desi ghee , cream packaging plants to understand the application of assembly line packaging and manufacturing. Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Administrative Officeer , Milk Plant Ludhiana  also sensitized the students about the supply chain practices pursued by the federation to ensure that farmers interests were taken care of as were the needs of consumers for a world class product Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra expressed his gratitude to the Director Milkfed Ludhiana S. Jaswant Singh for helping GGNIMT organise this visit as this would have been a unique learning experience for the students.

Principal Dr. Pritam Singh Khattra, advised the students to take a ken interest in understanding the management practices showcased during the visit as these would enrich their learning experience.
