LEED Lab provides students with skills and resources to become green building leaders
Resource efficiency in the built environment is key to ensure sustainable development. In light of the environmental challenges looming before us, it is critical to develop a pool of professionals who are equipped to design and construct environment friendly building. Hence, Amity University has joined hands with GBCI (Green Business Certification Institute) to launch the first ever LEED Lab in North India and second in India. LEED Lab is a multidisciplinary immersion course that utilizes the built environment to educate and prepare students to become green building leaders with a focus on sustainability.
By expanding LEED Lab in India, students have the opportunity to build the skills needed for 21st century careers in sustainability. The course helps students assess the performance of existing facilities on campus and choose one building where they will facilitate the LEED for Building Operations and Maintenance (LEED O+M) rating system with the goal of certifying the facility. Students undertake the entire certification process themselves and are responsible for completing the entire documentation process and submitting the project to GBCI for review. At the end of the course students will be prepared for taking the exams of ‘LEED Green Associate’ and LEED Accredited Professional’.Students can walk away with a highly marketable professional credential that signifies their green building competency and knowledge.
Amity University Haryana is also India's First & Asia's Second University to receive LEED Existing Building Platinum certification, certified by Green Business Certification Institute (GBCI). LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design was created by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building, community and other project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.

It will equip next generation of sustainability advocates with the practical experience needed to differentiate them in today’s job market. Through this programme students will be trained on LEED framework through class room activity along with practical experience on an existing building AUH campus.
