Ludhiana, July 26, 2016: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, Ludhiana conducted a three day training course for entrepreneurs who want to prepare and market cattle feed in Punjab.

According to Dr. Parminder Singh, the course coordinator; 62 feed millers took part which was held from 18th to 20th July, 2016. In this course, various techniques of feed manufacturing were discussed including purchase and storage of feed ingredients, ration formulation for different categories of the animals, Importance of bypass fat and protein for ruminants, manufacturing of uromin lick and mineral mixture, presence of pesticides and aflatoxins in feed ingredients, importance of feed additives, automation in feed manufacturing, the Punjab regulation of compounded feed act among others.

According to Santokh Singh, officer of dairy development, Ludhiana, this course is necessary for every cattle feed manufacturer to get the license for marketing the feed in the Punjab state. Dr. M P Gupta, Head department of Veterinary Extension informed the feed manufacturers the utility services the department offers for the farmers and the feed manufacturers, like the feed and feed ingredients testing, sale of minerals and bypass fat among others.

He asked the feed millers to prescribe the GADVASU literature so that farmers get latest information when they come for feed manufacturing.
