Ludhiana: Dr.Naresh Sood, Professor, Department of Veterinary Pathology and Dr.Jitender Mohindroo, Professor and HoD Veterinary Surgery and Radiology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana were conferred “ICAR Best Teacher Award 2016-17”, in recognition of commendable contributions to teaching, research and extension activities in their respective fields. Dr BS Parkash ADG (ANP) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and Dr.Amarjit Singh Nanda,Vice-Chancellor honoured them with plaque, certificate and cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.

Dr. Naresh Sood joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Pathology in year 1985 and has put in 31 years’ service in different capacities. Dr. Sood was actively involved in the academic activities of the students in the capacity as advisor to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has guided 11 M.V.Sc. and three Ph.D. students. He is a Pathologist par excellence with specialization in linical pathology and diagnostic. He has attended 51 National and International conferences and recipient of over 55 National and International awards.

Dr. Jitender Mohindroo joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology in 1999 and has put in 18 years of service in different capacities. He has guided 16 M.V.Sc. and 3 Ph.D Students. Dr. Mohindroo is a clinician par excellence. He is Principal Investigator of ICAR sponsored All India Network Program on 'Diagnostic Imaging and Management of Surgical Conditions in Animals'. He has published more than 120 research publications in refereed journals including international journals and has contributed chapters in two books. Dr. Mohindroo has received 29 awards at various national conferences.

Dr BS Parkash said that this type of honour inculcates the spirit in faculty to Do Best, Do More and Do Incessantly. Dr.Nanda said that this type of laurel encouraged the other colleagues to act on the same lines and develop a healthy competition among the teachers to perform excellently. He revealed that it will serve two way purposes, first excellent teaching to the students and on other hands better learning among students and above all a name and fame for the institution.

Dr.Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, administered the whole ceremony. Officers of the University, Heads of the departments and faculty members of university graced the function & congratulated Dr. Sood and Dr. Mohindroo.
