Fusion of World Cultures witnessed during 7th Punjab Multicultural Festival

Ludhiana, November 19, 2016: Fusion of World Cultures was witnessed during the 7th Punjab Multicultural Festival organised by G.H.G Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar in collaboration with Punjab Cultural promotion Council. The International folk ensemble Mexican & Punjabi folk artists regaled the audience with their heart throbbing & scintillating performances. Espiritu Mexican Danza Folklorica ensemble from Mexican city was the star attraction on this occasion, depicting the rich folkloric traditions of Latin American region.
This International festival Directed by Dr. Davinder Singh Chhina (the Festival Director of 7th Punjab Multicultural Festival), was full of life, enthusiasm, great music, depicting the folkloric tradition of Punjab and Mexico. The Mexican artists attired in colorful and vibrant costumes, regaled the audience with traditional Mexican folk dances from Veracruz and Jalisco Regions of Mexico. The Mariachi music added more flavor to this international concert and multicultural Melange of diverse cultures.
Dr. Swaranjeet Singh Deol, Principal of G.H.G. Khalsa College welcomed the Mexican delegation and appreciated their role and the contribution of PCPC in bringing diverse cultures to Punjab time and again. Mr. Arturo Salazar Javier, the Manager of the Mexican Folk ensemble and other group members namely Luis Alonso, Luis Manuel, Ana Patricia, Laura Teresa, Jorge Martin, Esther Aguila, Alferdo Campos, Gabriela Espiritu, Celia Luna, Maria Eugenia, Sergio Ortega were felicitated by Dr. S.S. Deol, Dr. H.S. Brar, Dr. Satvinder Kaur, Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur & Prof. Balwinderpal Singh.
The Mexican dancers performed various traditional folk dances from Jalisco Region named as El Huizache, Las Alazanas, La Madrugada, ElSon de la Negra, El Gavilancillo, El Jarabe Tapatio and they also performed few dances from Veracruz Region of Mexico named as El Balaju, El Jarabe Loco, El Gavilancito, El Canelo, El and Aguanieves, La Bamba.
Mexican artists enjoyed watching Punjabi folk performances namely Bhangra, Giddha and Malvai Giddha by students of G.H.G. Khalsa College. Mr. Inderjit Singh, presented traditional Punjabi songs. Mr. Arturo and their Mexican troupe exchanged souvenirs from Mexico with Principal Dr. S.S. Deol, Dr. H.S. Brar and Dr. Satvinder Kaur.
The chief guest of this occasion Prof. Bhagwant Singh from Texila American University highlighted the importance of such International festivals from being merely a source of entertainment to being a mode for spreading cultural awareness.
Prof. Major Singh, Dr. Baljit Singh, Prof. Sonia Ahuja, Prof. Priyanka, Prof. Hamjeet Kaur, Prof. Kanwaljit Kaur other teaching and non-teaching staff contributed a lot for the success of this festival.
