Kila Raipur (Ludhiana), February 2, 2013: The carnival continued to attract thousands of spectators as the sun brightened the open air stadium on the penultimate day of the 77th Kila Raipur Sports Festival here on Saturday.

Full house attendance at the stadium topped the action of the day. Second to none the audience was anticipating much action, and they went home satisfied at the end of the day. The horse riding and martial arts by Nihang Singhs drew repeated applause from the big gathering.Foreigners could be seen mingling with Maghar Singh, the veteran Nihang Singh and his group and showing great excitement for loading and unloading competition.

Greyhounds stole the thunder and captivated the crowds, as they darted for the fast moving artificial rabbit. Delbert Co made its owner, Sonu of Rangian, proud by winning the dog racing competion, which had 32 greyhounds participating. Phakkar Black, owned by Kuljit of Lakhowal finished in second place and Fregi, owned by Chani of Bihla finished in third place.

In hockey, Kila raipur Academy, Jarkhar Academy, Sangrur Academy and Gill Academy, Kharar reached the semifinal stage in the under 17 six-a-side tournament, while,in Bhagwant Memorial Hockey Gold Cup, Kila Hans team will meet S.G.G.S. club, Jalandhar and Mukandpur will meet Sangrur in the two semifinals on Sunday.

Maninder Singh of Khanna was the fastest man in 100-metres and Kaushalia of Hoshiarpur was fastest woman. Veteran athletes raised a lot of cheers as Nachhattar Singh sprinted for the gallery beating Bakhtaur Singh and Gurcharan Singh in the 100 meters race for 70-75 age group.  

In the 1500 meters final, Manjit Singh from Haryana, and Pankaj of Haryana finished first and third respectively whereas Ravinder Singh of Nainital finished second. Manjit Singh, an international athlete, has the third best time in 800 meters in India. 

Tej Prakash Singh, Former Cabinet Minister, was the guest of honour and showed excitement at the level of performance and enthusiasm in the athletes and audience. On the final day Charanjit Singh Atwal, Speaker Punjab will be the chief guest. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Finance Minister and Swaran Singh Phillaur, Cabinet Minister will grace the occasion.
