A free Legal Aid Cell Inaugurated at GKU

Talwandi Sabo, April 27, 2018: A free Legal Aid Cell was inaugurated in University School of Law constitute College of Guru Kashi University on 26th April 2018 in the presence of Dr.Mandeep Mittal Chief Judicial Magistrate/Secretary District Legal Services Authority Bathinda.
The Chief Guest, Dr.Mittal was welcomed by Dr.Ashwani Sethi Director P&D GKU and Dr.Arpana Bansal Dean University School of Law.
CJM emphasized, "Excess to Justice for all" as the concept of Legal Aid and said that the cell would basically target the needs of socially and economically downtrodden section of society.
During this programme a short documentary Film "Rajinama" on the concept of Legal Aid was screened by District Legal Service Authority.
The Prizes were distributed by Guest to the students who had secured position in various academic & cultural activities.
Tree plantation was also done on this occasion. Respected Deans of different Colleges of GKU and the President of Talwandi Sabo Bar Association Mr. Jagdeep Singh Punia, Vice President Vikrant Goyal, Senior Advocate Avtar Singh Sidhu and Jasveer Singh Jassal were also present on this occasion. The Vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ashwani Sethi and he encouraged the students for active participation in the working of Legal Aid Cell.
Dr. Arpana Bansal Dean USOL emphasized that Legal Aid is a part of Legal Education and from the students will learn about the functioning of Legal Aid Cell from this .Dr. Col. B.S Dhaliwal congratulated USOL for the inauguration of Legal Aid Cell.
The Deputy Registrar, Dr. Amit Tuteja also lauded the initiative taken by the Department of law.
