Fourth World Cup Kabadi/Sierra Leone emerges victorious in Mens’ Kabbadi

Gurdaspur, December 4, 2013: Sierra Leone today registered decisive win by defeating Scotland 58 – 25 in Mens’ Kabadi during the ongoing fourth World Cup Kabadi at Gurdaspur.
In Women Kabadi England defeated Maxico during a match played at Gurdaspur-45-29.
In the third match Pakistan defeated Denmark by 77-22.
Inaugurating the World Cup Kabadi match today evening, Gurcharan Singh Babbehali, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Nirmal Singh Kahlon, Former Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for taking Kabadi, a rural game at the international level.
Speaking on the occasion, Kahlon said that with the active involvement of youth in the game has certainly channelised their energies. He appealed to the youth to stay away from the drugs and other social aberrations and extend their support to evolve a healthy society.
Babbehali said that the government would construct world class sports stadiums in all the major cities of Punjab. He also said that due to the efforts of the Punjab Government Kabaddi has now got International status and it is because of the Punjab government that 20 teams of 14 countries are participating in this tournament. He said that Punjab is laying more stress on sports and budget of Sports department has been enhanced to Rupees 142 crores from the earlier budget of 12 cores. He said that Punjab has enhanced the prize money for Olympic Gold Winner to Rs. 2.5 crores from Re.
