POLITICAL SECRETARY TO CM, FATEHGARH SAHIB MP, SAMRALA MLA & DEPUTY COMMISSIONER INSPECT ONGOING PREPARATIONS Samrala (Ludhiana), May 29, 2019: Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh would lay the foundation stone of a food processing plant belonging to CN IFFCO Pvt Ltd., a joint venture between India’s leading cooperative, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) and Spain’s leading food processing company, Congelados de Navarra (CN Corp), at village Saijjo Majra and Rattipur near Samrala in district Ludhiana at 10:30 am on May 30, 2019. To inspect the ongoing preparations, Lok Sabha MP from Fatehgarh Sahib constituency Dr Amar Singh, Political Secretary to CM Punjab Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Samrala MLA Mr Amrik Singh Dhillon, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, SSP Khanna Mr Gursharanjeet Singh Grewal and other senior officials today visited the venue and issued necessary directions. Thousands of area residents are expected to attend this function, for which grand preparations have been made. ADC Khanna Mr Jaspal Singh, SDM Samrala Miss Geetika Singh, besides several other senior officials were also present. While providing information about this project, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that state government’s “Invest Punjab” is facilitating the project. The project would be benefiting over 10,000 farmers of the region, besides generating direct and indirect employment for more than 2,500 persons. Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that this state-of-the-art food processing plant, spread over an area of 55 acres, would be constructed with an initial investment of around Rs 550 Crore and would commence production within next 2 years’ time. The plant would have a processing capacity of 80,000 MT per annum and will produce individual quick-freezing vegetables, French fries and potato snacks. The raw vegetables required for the plant would be procured locally (within a radius of 150 kilometres from the plant) thereby benefiting farmers of the region. With sharp focus on training of farmers, implementation of modern technology and know-how (of CN Corp. and IFFCO) the project would boost overall infrastructure within the agro-economic ecosystem of the region thereby contributing positively to the GDP of Punjab.
