Foundation stone of India’s largest ‘India International Horticulture Market for fruits, flowers and Dairy Products’ laid at Ganaur

New Delhi, February 24, 2014:  Member of Parliament and  Vice President of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and MP,  Rahul Gandhi alongwith Haryana Chief Minister  Bhupinder Singh Hooda laid the foundation stone of India’s largest  ‘India International Horticulture Market for fruits, flowers and Dairy Products’ at Ganaur in district Sonipat. It would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1500  crore over 536 acres of land.
Union Minister for Rural Development,  Jairam Ramesh, General Secretary, AICC and Incharge of Party Affairs in Haryana  Shakeel Ahmed, Senior Congress Leader  Renuka Chaudhary, President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) Dr. Ashok Tanwar and a number of Haryana MPs, Ministers and MLAs were also present on this occasion.
The International Terminal Market would be designed on the pattern of Rungis International Market in France and for this consultation services has been taken from international firm ‘SEMMARIS-Rungis/GRESSARD.’ Being its close proximity to National Capital Region (NCR), the setting up of this international market  would largely benefit the farmers of States of northern India. This would also prove to be beneficial in decongestion of  Ajadpur Mandi of Delhi. This market would meet the requirement of whole sale traders of fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. With the setting of this market, nutritional security would be ensured and would help the farmers and other stakeholders in increasing their income which would further benefit the State.
The Market would be equipped with the facilities like cool chamber, ripening chamber, grading, sorting, waxing and packing. It would also house commodity hubs, multiple commodity hubs and collection centres. All these facilities would be of international Standard.  A National Horticulture Arcade is being developed in this Market. Also, the concerned undertakings of all States and Central Government would be given space in this market. This would not only boost the State Specific Product but also provide national and international level facility for the sale of horticulture products. This Arcade would be developed on the pattern of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
A logistic hub is being constructed in this market wherein, world class transportation facility along with refrigerated trains and trucks would be available. The CONCOR India has proposed an agreement with Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) for providing various facilities, its operations and upkeep. This international level market would open new doors of prosperity for the farmers of the country.
Geographically, Haryana touched the National Capital from three sides. There is a huge demand of fruits, flowers, vegetables and dairy products in Delhi. Therefore, besides horticulture, special emphasis is being given on horticulture and dairy. Today, Haryana is producing more than 162 lakh tones of foodgrains. Haryana is a leading State in the per hectare productivity of wheat, bajra and mustard. For the highest production of wheat, Haryana bagged  the ‘Krishi Karman Award’ consecutively for two years.
Agriculture Minister Paramvir Singh, MPs namely  Naveen Jindal, Dr. Arvind Sharma and Jitender Malik, Haryana Vidhan Speaker  Kuldeep Sharma, Education Minister  Geeta Bhukkal, Health Minister Rao Narender, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries namely . Dharmabir Singh, Rao Daan Singh,  Vinod Bhiana ,  Jaiveer Singh and Mrs. Anita Yadav, MLAs namely  Anand Kaushk ,   B.
