Ludhiana, February 13, 2017: Unlike all the previous training session, the impact of this gathering was felt even higher by the participants and the stake holders. The whole session was based on the 2 days Inter-Departmental Peer exchange Program executed between the PCS (Patient Care Department) and Nursing Department. Two observers each from the Nursing and PCS went into each other’s department to work in their role and feel the challenges come at the real time situation. This brings them the opportunity to actually walk in their shoes and be empathetic towards each other.

Co- Facilitating the whole session, Mr. Vivan Singh Gill, Director, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana added that the entire Peer Exchange Program was based on the concept of being empathetic for your colleagues and only than you can be kind for your patients and attendants. PCS and Nursing Departments demonstrated the role play from their one observation during the peer exchange program to demonstrate what they feel after wearing their peer’s shoes and the entire objective was met gracefully.
After the Role Play, the entire session was spent on discussing the facts on handling difficult situations with compassion.

Mr. Shrikant Juneja, Unit Trainer, and Co-facilitator, put emphasis on the concept where they are demonstrating others in the form of role play and still having the same compassion. Ms. Amandeep also stressed on the fact of benefits of understanding each other’s working and challenges faced.

Senior Consultants were also contributed with their talk on Empathy and Role Play Demonstrated. Dr Ajay Pal Sandhu, Dr Deepak Gupta and Dr Vinay contributed on giving valuable tips on how to empathize with your patients. Talking on the entire concept, Mr. Gill said that there upcoming modules shall be able to push all the touch points of the Departments who are Patient facing where empathy would be one word of action.
