Major Singh, a former ASI from Punjab police, who sustained two bullet injuries in the Dharampura area (street No. 6), Ludhiana on Thursday afternoon, undergoing treatment at a Ludhiana hospital.

Ludhiana, March 7, 2013: Major Singh, a former ASI from Punjab police has sustained two bullet injuries in the Dharampura area (street No. 6) here this afternoon.

He has been undergoing treatment in a local private hospital.

Singh and his close relatives are making allegations and counter allegations over the incident.

The injured person has been into the business of property.

The today’s firing incident is stated to be the outcome of a property dispute between the opposite parties.

On receiving the information, the Ludhiana ADCP-3 Nilambri Jagdale also went to the spot.

Police have started investigations.

In his statement to the police, Major Singh said he had a piece of one acre of land in Kakka Dhaula village, adding that he had a dispute over this land with his close relatives.

Singh alleged that he was present at his office today afternoon when a half dozen of his close relatives came to his office and opened fire on him following which he sustained injuries. He has sustained two bullet injuries one each in left arm and left leg.

He alleged that one of his close relatives who attacked on him was a district – level SAD leader from Amritsar.

According to Police Division No. 6 SHO Randhir Singh, they have registered an FIR under Section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) against three persons. He said efforts were on to arrest the accused who have been identified.
