Forest Minister takes strict note of Khair trees felling in Dehra

Dharamshala, January 10, 2018: Govind Singh Thakur, Minister for Forests, Himachal Pradesh has taken serious note of the illegal falling of Khair trees (Senegalia catechu) in Dehra area of the Kangra district in the state. It is reported that in the Rakkad Chouli forest beat of the Dehra Forest Division of the Kangra district, 19 Khair Trees were illegally cut down.

The minister asked the forest officials to immediately inquire into the matter and report. He directed forest and police departments to identify the culprits and act according to the law. Directing the officials in Dharamshala today, the bminister said, "Intensify the night patrolling in the sensitive areas, and activate the old barriers and fix new, if required.” The minister told the officials to strengthen the concerned quick reacting troupes.

The minister said that the present state government is committed to protect the forests and wildlife and breach, if any, will not be tolerated.
