Dharamshala, August 9, 2017: 40 years old, ex Indian Footballer Baichung Bhutia shall be the chief guest of the maiden award ceremony of the Himachal Pradesh Football Association (HPFA), on August 11 at Dharamshala.
Urban Development Minister of Himachal Sudhir Sharma will the guest of honour. Disclosing this the General Secretary of HPFA, Deepak Sharma told this correspondent that the district associations, players, coaches and referees of the state shall be honoured in the show for their achievements. A six member committee is working to finalise the names of the sportspersons. The year of judgment shall be 2016-17.
Sharma said, “Himachal is the only state in India which is organising awards ceremony after All India Football Federation (AIFF).” He said that HPFA is running a women football academy in Una, where around 200 girls are being trained. “The players of this academy played upto semi-final in the recently concluded National Urja Championship at Jammu shall also be honoured,” he added.
He said that a life time achievement award shall also be given. Tapash Thapa, the first ever national football commissioner from Himachal shall also be facilitated.
