New Delhi, August 12, 2014:  The Special Judge (West), Anti-Corruption, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) has convicted  K.M.Tripathi, then Chief Regional Manager, Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), Lucknow in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.90,000.
 This was stated by a spokesperson of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday. He said a case was registered by the CBI against  K.M. Tripathi, the then Chief Regional Manager, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), Regional Office, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow on the complaint.
It was alleged that  K.M. Tripathi conspired with the then Station Officer, IRCTC, Gorakhpur Railway Station and demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.70,000 from the Complainant for renewal of his licence for 3 trolleys and 1 AVM Stall at Railway Station, Basti (UP).
A trap was laid by CBI on 30.10.2009 and both the alleged accused were caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.70,000 from the Complainant.
He said after completion of the investigation, the charge sheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge (West), Anti- corruption, Lucknow on 22.09.2010 against both the accused. After completion of trial, the Court convicted K.M. Tripathi and acquitted then Station Officer of IRCTC.
