Five Days Program on Certified Course in Excellence in Plant Management

Ludhiana, October 19, 2016: CICU has been organizing various programs for the benefit of the industry and trade sectors of Punjab. Skill Up-gradation of the Industrial employees/workers is one of the key agenda under the “Make In India” initiative by the Government & facilitated by Chamber. CICU has recognized its responsibility in this regards and decided to launch the “Excellence in Plant Management” program. The third session of this program was conducted on 18th Oct’ 2016 at CICU Complex, Focal Point Ludhiana.

Sh. Avtar Singh, President CICU in his welcome address said that there is a dire need for the up-gradation of the industry in terms of plant management especially in Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, where things are still handled on traditional concepts & mismatch with today’s competitive scenario. For Global Competition, achieving Excellence in Business has become very important and plant management plays a vital role in its up-gradation. There is a direct co-relation between skill up-gradation of employees and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of the business.

Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary CICU and Chairman , Small Industrial development board Punjab said that Plant Management is a blend of Lean Concepts like 5S, 3M & Kaizen, Daily Work Management, Inventory Management, C/T study &TAKT Time, SMED (Quick change over), Production Improvement by monitoring O.E.E, TPM & TQM etc. are effective tools for achieving Excellence in Plant Management. He was assure that knowledge shared in this program if implemented effectively will defiantly benefit the industry and trade.

The interactive and thought provoking session was conducted by Sh. Rakesh Gupta, founder CEO of M/s ACE1 Consulting. He is B.E., MS (BITS Pilani) & pursuing PhD (IIT Delhi). Sh. Gupta is having 31 years of rich experience in automotive & engineering industry. He has worked with ACMA, ACT division as Principal Counselor for 11.5 years. He has worked with United Nations (UNIDO) as National Expert to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in Auto Component Industry. In his third second session, he enlightened the participants with concepts like Fundamentals of Quality Management, Customer Focus, Concept of Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Organization Structure of QA/QC, First PC Approval, In process Inspection, Documents Audit, Corrective and Preventive actions, Poka Yoka and Daily Quality Reports.

The participants presented their power point presentation on the implementation done in their shop floor based on the learning of day 2. Many participants shared the benefits in terms of production and quality enchantment as well as saving of significant processing time and reducing of cost of production after implementation of day 1 and day 2 learnings of this program.

The program was attended by 30 participants from different industrial sectors like auto components, fasteners, garments & textiles, bicycle components, agriculture & horticulture machinery and machine tools etc.

The program was highly appreciated by the participants.
