First rake of Coaches for Indian Army Rolls out

Kapurthala, October 18, 2016: The first rake of 15 coaches specially manufactured for Indian Army were rolled out today from Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.

They were rolled out in the presence of Shri R P Nibariya ,General Manager/RCF and Lt Gen R K Sharma, DG OL&SM .

Lt Gen Sharma was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at RCF. He met Shri Nibariya and had deliberate discussions on the coaches for Army. Later, he was apprised of functioning of RCF and was given a presentation on coach manufacturing. Later, he visited workshop where he inspected the coaches along with General Manager and Senior Officers of RCF.

This consignment has been as a part of 90 coaches which RCF will manufacture for Indian Army. 60 coaches will be delivered in this financial year and the remaining 30 will be dispatched in the next fiscal.

The coaches manufactured are of AC 3-Tier configuration and have been made according to the requirements of Indian Army. All the coaches have one Wash Room fitted with Flexible Shower for the convenience of on-board troops. Fitted with LED Lights, the coaches also have Snack Table on the Side Berth side. The colour of the coaches carry a green outlook with two red stripes . Fitted with Bio-Toilets , the coaches are of conventional design.

It is pertinent to mention that RCF in past, has manufactured Special Purpose DRDO coaches which were flagged off by Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalaam May 8, 1999. / (Rajat Kumar, Jalandhar)
