Ferozepur, November 11, 2019: An FIR will be lodged against the Panchayats and the secretaries of co-operative secretaries besides stripping of their status if fake verification of non-stubble burning cases found in the district, said Deputy Commissioner Mr.Chander Gaind. He said that dereliction in this duty is unwarranted and will attract stern action subsequently.
Divulging more, the deputy commissioner said that to tackle the pollution scenario in the state, the government had announced the compensation/award for the farmers who would not burn the stubble. He said that an award of Rs.2500 per acre for the small/marginal farmers with land up to 5 acres had been announced, adding that he said that following which around 827 farmers in the Ferozepur district availed the benefit by claiming of not burning paddy stubble.
Mr. Gaind said that it has come to light that in a few cases compensation was wrongly distributed to the farmers for not burning stubble, hence a field verification of all 827 cases has been initiated through Patwaris. The deputy commissioner added that the secretaries of concerned co-operative societies had uploaded the compensation cases on their portal which were verified by the Gram Panchayats of the concerned villages, adding he said that if any wrong case was found in the district the concerned gram panchayats and co-operative secretaries have to face the music.
The deputy commissioner further added that the co-operative societies have been issued new login IDs and passwords to upload fresh cases on the portal and they must use the new IDs for this purpose. He said that if any fake case was found the FIR would be lodged against the concerned Secretary of the co-operative society and the gram panchayats besides scrapping of their posts. He exhorted all the secretaries and the panchayats to undertake this task with utmost honesty and dedication so that award can only be distributed among the genuine farmers which will be a real encouragement to them.
