`Financial Inclusion through Financial Education’
World Investor week celebrated at KMV Jalandhar, October 6, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar's PG Department of Commerce & Business Administration organised a regional seminar on "Financial Inclusion through Financial Education". The seminar was organized in association with the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) to mark the celebration of World Investor Week from 1 Oct to 7 Oct. The aim of the program was to give a brief exposure to the students about various investment avenues and financial products and services and also to educate them about the concept of stock market, investment strategies, mutual funds etc. The resource person for the programme were Mr Parveen Kumar Jain from NSE, Mumbai, Mr Ankit Joshi amd Mr Sandeep Singh from Aditya Birla Mutual Funds, New Delhi. Mr Parveen Jain spoke about the precautionary measures that have to be observed by investors. He thoroughly explained the rights of an investor and how an investor can complaint about his grievances. He also briefed about the settlement cycle in stock exchange, and also encouraged the students to become investors. Mr Ankit Joshi gave a vivid account about the number of stock exchanges, kinds of stock markets, members dealing in it, career opportunities, current stock exchange trends in India and its comparison with other foreign stock markets. During the seminar various topics were discussed namely mutual funds, De-mat accounts, regulatory authorities in finance, investor Grievances Resolution Panel, investor interest and protection etc. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these types of seminars helps the students to gain the industry related knowledge and makes their study industry-oriented. She also appreciated the initiative done by the PG Department of Commerce & Business Administration in organizing such fruitful seminar.
