Jalandhar, May 26, 2016: As the sun rose in the sky, the fifth day of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar’s Wood Carving Camp brightened its shine with the acquaintance of students with reputed artists like Dr.Vishal Bhatnagar and Mr.Jaswinder Singh. These artists elucidated the students about the various facets of wood carving art.
Dr.Vishal Bhatnagar, a celebrated artist who has won many awards like National Award by South Cultural Centre, Nagpur, State Award in Sculpture by Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh, First Award in Chandigarh Carnival and many others. In this particular workshop, he is giving expression to the abstract thoughts of human mind in spiritual manner which is in turn inspired by Yog Darshan and Vedas. It illustrates that with the help of spiritualism one can extend the horizons of his mind to 100 percent which cannot be achieved in scientific ways.
Mr. Jaswinder Singh, another famous artist of Punjab who has many achievements like SL Prashar Award and All India Exhibition of Art etc. to his credit. In this workshop, his work is touching the burning contemporary issue of violence in the world. He is carving a gun as a symbol of terror. He says as iron cuts iron, only a gun can snub the terrorism in the world.
Principal Dr. Sucharita felt elated to see the success of this workshop and said India is a place where art has flourished to great heights and workshops like this always prove fruitful in preserving art and culture of one’s nation
