FIEO welcomes the proactive approach of the govt to set up Help Desks at FIEO offices across the country

Ludhiana, July 19, 2018: FIEO President, Mr Ganesh Kumar Gupta welcomed the proactive approach of the government particularly the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to set up Help Desks or Facilitation Centres at FIEO's offices at different locations in the country. The initiative taken by CBIC has come in the wake of pending IGST refunds of exporters. The Help Desks at FIEO offices would be located at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana and Mumbai and would function for a period of 2 weeks till 1st August, 2018. They will be manned by officers of Customs, who shall be nominated by the jurisdictional Customs zone.

FIEO Chief said that in an earlier proposal sent to the government, the Federation volunteered to provide space and logistic support to the help desks, which would be located in its office to provide easy accessibility to exporters. Mr Gupta added that in addition to the logistics support, FIEO will reach out to the exporters (both members and non-members), whose refunds are pending and persuade them to approach the Help Desk to get their claims settled. CBIC has also issued a circular in this regard to further facilitate the exporting community in getting the refund claims.
