FIELD FUNCTIONARIES APPRISED ON EXTENSION AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ludhiana, December 26, 2017: Department of Extension Education conducted a training programme for field functionaries of Department of Economics and Sociology to apprise them on extension and communication skills. Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education discussed the role of extension services in agriculture development and stressed upon the vitality of accurate data collection in agriculture policy formulations. Dr.Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, Professor and Head, Deptt. of Extension Education highlighted the importance of extension and communication skills for field work and data collection. Dr.Sukhpal Singh, Professor cum Head, Deptt of Economics and Sociology asked the field functionaries to keep themselves updated about PAU recommendations to help the farmers.

Experts also elaborated on various topics like rapport building, verbal & non-verbal communication skills, data collection methods, principles of extension, learning to listen and facilitating material for extension work during different training session. While interacting with the participants, Dr.H.S.Kingra also shared his field experiences. Training was coordinated by Dr.Jasdev Singh and Dr.Dharminder Singh.
