Field day on happy seeder technology at village Khosa Pando in Moga

Ludhiana, March 21, 2018: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Budh Singh Wala, Moga has organized a field day on happy seeder technology at village Khosa Pando, Moga. In this event, farmer were made aware regarding the happy seeder technology.
During the camp, Deputy Director, KVK Moga, Dr.Amandeep Singh Brar explained about the ill effects of paddy straw burning and benefits of non-burning of paddy straw. He advised participants to adopt the Punjab Agricultural University recommended technologies to manage the paddy straw. He also told about the facilities available at KVK Moga for the farming community.
Er.Ankit Sharma, Assistant Professor (Agril Engg.), KVK Moga, explained the happy seeder technology to the participant. He told that wheat crop can be drilled into the standing stubbles field without burning of straw with the help of happy seeder machine. He also made aware the participants regarding the other technologies of paddy straw management such as chopper/mulcher, paddy straw baler, spatial drill. He told the farmers that happy seeder can again be used after wheat harvest for sowing of summer moong.
Mrs.Amanpreet, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), explained the useful tips for the cultivation of kharif crops. She also motivated the farmers to get their field soil and water tested for better nutrient management.
Dr. Arshdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) explained about the insect pest management in rabi as well as kharif crops. She also emphasized the farmers to adopt seed treatment before sowing of kharif crops to protect the crops from diseases. Extension literature regarding the technologies explained, ill effects of straw burning and benefits of non-burning of paddy straw were also distributed to the participants.
