FICO welcomes decision of exemption of tax on buses plied by industry for their employees

Ludhiana, October 3, 2019: Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisations (FICO) has stated here today that the Government of Punjab has issued a notification under Punjab Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 1924, that the buses (registered in Punjab) plied by the industry for its employees, has been exempted from the motor vehicle tax.
The notification has been issued on September 30, 2019.
FICO president Gurmeet Singh Kular welcomed the decision stating that “we welcome the decision of Government of Punjab as the buses are not being used for commercial purpose, but to transport the staff & labourers to the industry.”
FICO chairman KK Seth also welcomed the decision and stated that “there used to be huge tax on the buses, this decision will encourage the industry to buy more buses to transport their employees from far locations, it will directly boost the rural employment to the urban areas. This decision will be beneficial for employees as well as for the industry, where there is shortage of the staff and labourers.”
