Ludhiana, July 20, 2018: Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization, popularly known as FICO, organized a Session on Road Safety, Dr. Madhusoodan Joshi DGM ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology), Shri Mahendar Pal AGM ICAT (Innovation Service & Excellence), Shri Manoj Singh General Manager Hella India Lighting Limited were the guest of honour on the occasion. Shri Sandeep Sharma A-DCP Ludhiana was the Key Note Speaker. Around 100 FICO Members attended the event.
The major highlights of the seminar were as follows:
• Presentation on Pedestrian Safety
• Presentation on Passenger Safety
• CMVR (Central Motor Vehicles Rule) rules related to Safety
• Talk about Cyclist Safety
Members were informed that a cyclist is most unsafe at night, when the visibility is on the lesser side, so in order to improve the visibility of a bicycle from a distance the bicycles have to be installed with more & more reflectors on all the sides of the bicycle, so as when the light from a vehicle hits the reflector it immediately reflects back and a cycle rider can be visible easily on road especially at night times, Moreover modern day two wheelers, cars, and other transportation vehicles, are also been fitted with the reflectors.
In India an accident happens every 56 seconds, and every 4 minute a person dies, due to an accident, which is very unfortunate and shows lack of responsibility on road.
Mr. Rahul Verma Traffic Expert who has assisted a lot in smoothing of Traffic Flow in Ludhiana, Every Tuesday he gives his time for the Road Safety, he said we should follow the rules of traffic by wearing helmates, or by fastening the seat belts. He also told that the Traffic Rules violation Challans worth Rs.40 Crores were issues, which directly goes to the Government's Revenue, but with their sincere efforts, the government of Punjab has agreed to spend 50% of the revenue generated by the Traffic Challans for the infrastructural developments, like tow away vans, alcohol level measuring devices and etc, he has urged the members to follow the traffic rules, as schedules are important by safety comes first.
Shri Sandeep Sharma ADCP Ludhiana said that it has been observed that the most of the accidents are not occur due to illiteracy, by due to hurry and ignorance of the traffic rules, he said for an instance, in a car, seat belts are the Active Safety & Air Bags are the Passive Safety, if one has fastened his seat belt, and car gets hit, only then his air bag will pop out, if Seat belt is not tied, then no Air Bag will pop and safe your life, So Traffic rules are meant to be followed not for anyone else but for your own safety.
Road Safety has always been one of the top priority of FICO, we have already converted a Black Spot of Vardhman Chowk in Ludhiana, to a White Spot, which was the place with the most number of accidents happened in Ludhiana. FICO will keep on working with the City Administration to enhance the Road Safety in Ludhiana, said S. Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO.
