FICO demands withdrawal of water and sewerage sharing charges

Ludhiana, October 18, 2014: A meeting of Federation of Industrial and Commercial organisations (FICO), Ludhiana was held at MSME Development Institute regarding bicycle cluster of Ludhiana Bicycle & Engineering Park, upgradation of bicycle industry and planning to manufacture high end alloy cycles in India.

The water and sewerage sharing charges  @ Rs.896569 per acre imposed by Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana were discussed in detail and it was requested to roll back these charges because industry is not part of an individual institution and objections were not called to impose these charges. It was also pointed out that industry is already paying disposal, water and sewerage charges and at the time of construction External Development Charges (EDC) were charged.

The meeting suggested that these charges should be imposed on PUDA, PSIEC because they charged these charges while allotment of plots.

“We request to the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana to withdraw it from industry to save the industry as industry is paying huge revenue in the shape of VAT, income tax, property tax and central excise”, the meeting urged.

S. S. Dhillon Director MSME, S.S. Reikhi SIPO District Industries Centre,  Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO, Rajeev Jain Secretary FICO, Jagatveer Singh joint Secretary FICO and Rajnish Gupta chairman Ludhiana Bicycle & Engineering Park were among those present.
