Ferozepur leads in paddy procurement

Chandigarh, October 14, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 1343351 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 1343351 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 1102356 tonnes of paddy (82.1%) till date whereas private traders procured 240955 tonnes (17.9%) of paddy. Till October 13, PUNGRAIN had procured 329981 tonnes (29.9%) whereas MARKFED procured 239307 tonnes (21.7%). PUNSUP procured 274788 tonnes (24.9%), PSWC procured 89444 tonnes (8.1%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 102188 tonnes (9.3 %) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 66668 tonnes (6.0%).
The spokesperson added that District Ferozepur with 287191 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Tarn Taran with 185295 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Sri Mukatsar Sahib 143578 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position. www.cityairnews.com
