Ferozepur, January 15, 2013: The development plan of 655 villages in Ferozepur District is on cards which will indicate the present status of each development works of streets, drains, sanitation, condition of ponds, condition of village pond etc.
The scheme is likely to be first of its kind in the state.
In view of alleged embezzlement of funds meant for development or its diversion in the rural areas as in certain cases the works have not been carried out.
As per the Panchayati Raj Department sources, a detailed plan has been prepared to minutely track the condition of roads, drains and basic amenities by numbering the streets, lanes in villages to keep a permanent identity.
In future, before releasing any grant for a particular village, it will be easier to know the present status of the existing amenities to make best use of the funds and also keep a check on siphoning off of funds meant for development work causing loss to the state exchequer.
The district administration plans to put all these plans on the website so that anybody can check the present status of works going on so that there is no wastage of funds, in a careless manner.
