Ferozepur, April 21, 2018: With an objective to speed up the procurement/lifting and payment process of wheat, the Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur Mr.Ramveer visited various mandis of the district including Ferozepur cantonment, Guruharsahai and Mamdot.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the arrival of wheat in the district, procurement made by different procurement agencies, availability of gunny bags in sufficient numbers, moisture content in the arrived wheat, and facilities being provided to the farmers in the mandis, and complete process of wheat procurement.
Deputy Commissioner said that timely procurement and lifting of wheat is being done and the farmers are not facing any problem in all the 128 mandis of the district. He said that the procurement and payment of crop of farmers was being done simultaneously.
He said that transport arrangements have been made for lifting of procured wheat. Besides this, there is no shortage of gunny bags. He said that commission agents (arhtiyas) too are making timely purchases of wheat, resulting to which the farmers are feeling very happy.
Earlier too it, the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the officers including SDMs, Tehsildars and representatives of different procurement agencies in the district, to take stock of the overall procurement arrangements in the district. Taking strong note of loose lifting of wheat in some of the mandis, he directed the procurement agencies to speed up the lifting and take strict action against the contractors who did not do the lifting work. He also asked the officials of all the procurement agencies to ensure timely payments to the farmers after the procurement.
On this occasion, Harjeet Singh Sandhu, SDM Ferozpur; Charandeep Singh SDM Guru Harsahai, Amit Gupta SDM Zira, Balraj Singh, DFSC, Manjit Singh Tehsildar Ferozepur, Beant Singh Tehsildar Zira, Pawan Kumar Gulati Tehsildar, Gurharsahai were also present.
