Bangalore, March 06, 2017: FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, recently concluded the FedEx Cares campaign, a program designed to benefit local communities. Over 1,400 FedEx team members across 33 cities in India were involved in community outreach activities, clocking more than 5,800 hours of volunteer work.
The global FedEx Cares volunteering program involves FedEx team members and their families donating their personal time and effort in giving back to the communities where they live.
“FedEx Cares demonstrates our continued dedication and contribution towards our local communities. In addition to the volunteer hours, our team members donated more than 1,700 tote bags containing sport, hygiene and education kits to underserved children across eight cities in India”, said Philip Cheng, vice president, Ground Operations, India, FedEx Express. “Our team members are passionate about making a difference, and the FedEx Cares campaign gives them the opportunity to volunteer in a range of locally organized initiatives.”
For the sixth consecutive year in India, FedEx team members participated in various activities through the FedEx Cares program, including:
· Organizing and participating in blood donation drives
· Visiting old age homes and spending time with the elderly
· Visiting orphanages and organizing celebrations for children
· Donating essential commodities, books and stationery items
FedEx Cares in India complements the volunteer activities taking place globally. FedEx Cares is the company’s giving platform through which FedEx will invest US$200 million in more than 200 global communities by 2020 to create opportunities and deliver positive change globally. Over the past 12 years, the campaign has expanded to nearly 400 cities around the world. In addition to the thousands of volunteer hours invested each year, FedEx donated more than $53 million globally in 2015.
