FDP on capacity building and enhancement in higher education commences at KMV

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalayais organizing a one week Faculty Development Program on Capacity Building and Enhancement in Higher Education from December 16-21. 
The program has been organized by the faculty of Sciences under DBT Star College Scheme. More than 115 participants participated in this programme.  The first day of the programme commenced with the Inaugural Session in which the Principal of the college  Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi along with the Chief Guest Dr. T.S. Benipal lighted the holy lamp amidst the holy enchants. She welcomed all the participants on the occasion and averred that the faculty development program is a great method for the teachers to reinvent themselves as it gives them a platform where they can share their own experiences with each other and thus can grow mutually. She also highlighted the role and the duties of a teacher in the overall development of the students. Addressing the participants, Dr. T.S. Benipal congratulated the Principal for organizing this programme on such an important topic. He said that while recognizing the duties and responsibilities a teacher should create the interest of students to learn something new and beneficial everytime. He also said that a teacher must put all his efforts to create self confidence and awareness amongst the students. The first technical session of the day was addressed by Dr. Jagbir Singh, Professor, Department of Zoology, Punjabi University, Patiala.  The topic of his presentation was Gender Adaptation and Climate Change. In his inspiring and brilliant talk, he emphasized on the problems and challenges faced by human beings and species in a polluted environment. He stressed upon the need to enhance the greenery and measures to reduce the threats created by global warming. While defining the gender based adaptation he highlighted the role of women in the development of a healthy society. The third and the last session of the day was addressed by Dr. Parminder Kaur , Associate  Professor, Dept. of Computer Science, GNDU, Amritsar. The topic of her talk was Use of ICT for Teaching Learning Process.  During her talk, Dr Parminder  explained the importance of ICT based teaching for upgradation of teaching Methodology. She also highlighted the use and importance of power point presentation, animations and videos in an interactive teaching learning process. The Vote of Thanks was extended by Dr. Updesh Kaur to the present dignitaries. Madam Principal congratulated the Organizing Committee for successfully organizing the Faculty Development Program.
