Dr Amar Singh, MP.

Raikot (Ludhiana), December 6, 2019: Dr Amar Singh, Member of Parliament from Fatehgarh Sahib constituency, today demanded that a new compensation policy should be formulated for losses caused due to stray animals. He said that stray animals have been causing losses equal to or more then caused in floods and rains.
While speaking in the parliament today, Dr Amar Singh demanded compensation policy for loss due to stray animals and that the current rates of compensation at Rs.8000 for full loss was too low and should be increased substantially. He stressed how stray animals were causing losses equal to those caused by floods and rains and how there was no policy to compensate farmers for the same. Farmers were at end of their patience as herds of stray animals are causing unprecedented damage to their crops every season.
He also raised the issue that there seemed to be no national level planning on how to tackle increasing losses due to climate change and changing weather and demanded a national level policy to be ready in case of drastic change in weather patterns. What will happen if rains are delayed by many months. How will farmers get seeds in case of weather induced crop losses etc. Need to study and act immediately.
