Chandigarh, March 28, 2013: On the intervening night of March 26-27 this year, the Fatehgarh Sahib police raided the house of one serving Sub Inspector of Punjab Police, SI Sarabjit Singh at Naya Gaon, 2Kg 600 gm opium and 1 Kg powder (which is yet to be tested) and packing material for drugs was recovered from the Sub Inspector’s house. The packing material is similar to what had been recovered from the house of Jagdish Bhola on March 7 this year. In addition, 10 empties of AK -47 and a 12 bore gun were recovered. No license for the 12 bore gun could be produced by the persons present in the house of SI Sarabjit Singh. Eleven mobile handsets were also recovered.

SI Sarabjit Singh was not present at his house and has absconded after the raid. SI Sarabjit Singh is borne on the strength of District Patiala. On  March 27 Police parties of District Fatehgarh Sahib and four other districts were dispatched to apprehend the absconding Sub Inspector, who is yet to be arrested.

Investigation has revealed that after Jagdish Bhola absconded on March 7 this year, he went to the house of SI Sarabjit Singh on March 11 from where he made telephone calls to his associates using the mobile phone registered in the name of the wife of SI Sarabjit Singh, Reet Sidhu. SI Sarabjit Singh is an active member of the gang of smugglers headed by Anoop Singh Kahlon and Jagdish Bhola. He aided Jagdish Bhola in absconding and arranged hideouts for Bhola.

The matter was examined at Punjab police headquarters on March28. On a reference from Fatehgarh Sahib police, SSP Patiala dismissed SI Sarabjit Singh from service invoking the provisions of  Article 311 (2) of the Constitution of India.

During investigation the role of HC Ram Singh in associating with Anoop Singh Kahlon, Rocky and others and procuring heroin from them for consumption has been conclusively established. Fatehgarh Sahib police sent a report on this to the Commandant, 2nd Cdo Battallion, which is the parent unit of HC Ram Singh. Today, Commandant 2nd Cdo Bn. Sushil Kumar dismissed HC Ram Singh from the service invoking the provisions of Article 311(2).

Today 10 Kg powder used as a rave drug worth Rs. 10 crores was further recovered from Kulbir Singh of Karnal, who has earlier been arrested in this case.
