FARMERS’ ISSUE: BKU (Lakhowal) demands Rs.2500 per qtl MSP for wheat

Ferozepur, December 15, 2012: A meeting of Bhartiya Kissan Union (Lakhowal) was held under the presidentship of Avtar Singh Sandhu, block president, Ferozepur in the office of the Market Committee, Feorzepur.

He said, BKU demands from the Centre that the MSP of wheat should be fixed as Rs.2500 per quintal.

He further said that the economic condition of farmers who are doing the dairy farming has been disturbed with the lowering the official milk rate to Rs.4 per kg. whereas with the increase in prices of cattle-feed, the farmer of Punjab has gone  under debt.  The Union also demanded that revised rates for upgrading the power load should be rolled back immediately. 

On this occasion Resham Singh, Jarnail Sigh, Harjinder Singh, Machha Singh, Roma Singh, Boota Singh, Amrik Singh, Baldev Singh and others participated in the meeting.
