Ludhiana, October 3, 2012: Sukhminderpal  Singh Grewal,
National Secretary, Fedration of All India Petroleum Traders (FAIPT) has said Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy had directed his Officials in the Ministry to write a letter to the Oil companies asking them to rework the commission payable to dealers on petrol within a specific time frame of fifteen days.

He said this direction was given in a meeting with the office bearers of FAIPT which the Minister took at a time on 19th Sept 2012 when the government was facing serious political crisis after the withdrawal of support to the government by TMC. At that point of time most would not believe that the Minister would take a meeting at that critical juncture, but Minister took the meeting.

Adding, he said FAIPT had given a detailed written representation on 18th Sept 2012 to the Ministry and in the background of this representation the meeting took place on the 19th Sept 2012. The Ministry issued the letter to the oil companies.
“We have subsequent to the receipt of the above letter, sent to the oil companies a detailed working based on the principles of calculation adopted by Apurva Chandra Committee, clearly working therein what should be the dealers commission on petrol and HSD even if one were to strictly go by the formulae adopted by Apurva Chandra Committee report and adopting current cost figures in operating the retail outlets with those prevailing in 2010”, he revealed.
He told that they have now received a letter from the OMCS for a meeting on 5th October at New Delhi to discuss issues involved in the re-working of the dealers’ commission and to clarify any such matter on which the companies might need their comments. He said the Managing Committee including the Zonal Vice Presidents shall be joining him in this meeting.

Further, he said a few individuals for reasons best known to them are harming the interests of the dealers by trying to project as if dealership community was divided. This is furthest from truth. Whatever they have been able to achieve is because of the unity of the dealership network and your unstinted support, he added.
