Extension lecture on herbal biotechnology

Jalandhar, November 7, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar’s Department of Biotechnology and Department of Zoology jointly organised an extension lecture on Herbal Biotechnology. Dr.Pratap Kumar Patti. Professor and Head, Department of Biotechnology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the resource person for the same. Addressing the students he elaborated the concept of herbal biotechnology and its role in creating value added foods. He gave many suitable examples like:- golden rice with improved vitamin A content, mawera corn with lysine content, high anthocyanin content in tomatoes etc. go gave a detailed information to the students. furthermore, he also mentioned the RNA interference approach for creating better and improved quality plants. Many important quarries of the students were also answered satisfactorily. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV extended her gratitude towards the resource person and lauded the efforts of Biotechnology and Zoology Department for this extension lecture.
