EXPERTS FROM US DELIVER TALK ON COLLABORATION IN DIGITAL ERA

Ludhiana, January 5, 2018: The adoption of efficient collaborative methods is pivotal for staying competitive in the fast moving digital era. This was the stressed by the experts from US, namely Dr Swarn Singh Dhaliwal and Dr Harjinder Singh Sandhu while delivering their talk on “Success through Collaboration in Digital Age” at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. Deans, directors, heads, faculty and students of PAU attended the talk, which was organized by the Directorate of Research, PAU. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, presided over the programme.

In their talk, the speakers said, “Although social media has revolutionized information sharing, yet a good collaboration system should be accessible, inexpensive, organized, linked, secure, long lasting, relevant, conversational, contextual, engaging and fun.” They introduced ‘CollabPlace’ which is easily accessible, persistent, highly structured, multi media capable, secure, relevant, action oriented, engaging, fun and gives high performance. Referring to its features, they said it can be used for discussions, chats, announcement at administrative level, research and project management, and document and content management. At PAU, CollabPlace can be used for research collaboration, intra and inter departmental administrative sharing, and learning management system, they said. Later, a detailed interaction was held among the speakers, senior officials, heads and faculty of PAU.

Dr Dhillon appreciated the informative talk of the guest speakers.

Earlier, Dr K.S. Thind, Additional Director of Research (Crop Improvement), welcomed the VC, speakers and the attendees.

Dr D.S. Brar, Adjunct Professor, School of Agricultural Biotechnology, gave a brief introduction of the guest speakers. He informed both are the alumni of PAU and hold brilliant academic record with Gold Medals to their credit.
