Ludhiana, August 27, 2019: The Punjab government has decided to organise functions dedicated to the 550th year Parkash Purab celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and the founder of the faith, throughout the state and a government table calendar has also been issued. As per the directions of the state government, tehsil level essay writing, quiz and book review competitions were organised for the students of Government Senior Secondary Schools of the district.
While providing information, District Education Officer (Secondary) Ludhiana Swaranjit Kaur informed that the knowledge about history and religion would prove very beneficial for the students. She said that it would also help them in connecting with the religion as they would have detailed understanding about it.
She further said that dedicated to the 550th year Parkash Purab celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, several religious as well as social functions are being organised in the state. She said that to celebrate these functions, the Punjab government has already issued a calendar in this regard and all the activities are being organised as planned.
The District Education Officer informed that the students gave priority for writing essays about the life and teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Students inspired to follow Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings through their writings and secured first, second and third places.
The winners of district level competitions were awarded with prizes at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Cemetery Road, here by the school principal and staff. On this occasion, Deputy DEO (Secondary) Ludhiana Mr Ashish Kumar, besides several others were also present.
RESULTS:
In district level essay writing competition, Sehajpreet Kaur from Ikolahi village, Anupreet Kaur from Dangora and Simranjit Kaur from Sihala village stood first, second and third prizes respectively in secondary level. Similarly, on senior secondary level, Dhamana from Pakhowal, Mamta Devi from Bagli Kalan and Sanjana Negi from Miller Ganj stood first, second and third prizes respectively.
In book review competition, Annie from Government High School Kohara stood first, Vandana from Govt Senior Secondary School Manki stood second and Amritpreet Singh from Govt High School Ghulal, Navjot Kaur from Govt Senior Secondary School Engine Shed and Simrandeep Kaur from Rampur school won joint third prize.
Similarly, in quiz competition, Dilpuneet Kaur, Amanjot Kaur and Manpreet Kaur from Govt Senior Secondary School Talwandi Rai won first, Varinderpal Singh, Ajay Kumar and Amit Kumar from Govt Senior Secondary School Jagraon stood second, while Harmanpreet Kaur and Sneh Lata from Govt Senior Secondary School Threeke stood third.
