Jalandhar, September 4, 2019: On the second day of the 5-day DST INSPIRE-Camp at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Dr.Anish Dua (Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar ) delivered a guest lecture on 'Journey so far and the Possibilities'.
The guest lecture was organized the Department off Zoology of KMV. In his lecture Dr Dua discussed all the possibilities in the field of biology and also asked the students to find out their interests and work hard for it with dedication and determination. He also introduced the term 'DELI' i.e. Deeply Embedded Life Interest. In the second session of the day, Dr A.S. Ahluwalia, Department of Botany, Punjab University, Chandigarh delivered a lecture on 'Either we end the Global Warming or it'll end us'. He highlighted the global issues of green house gases & created awareness among students regarding Global Warming. He also advised to reduce the energy and carbon emission through plantation, use of energy friendly vehicles & car pooling etc.
In the third & last session of the day, Dr Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, conducted a workshop on 'Allium cepa root chromosomal Aberration assay- an inexpensive tool for assessment of Environmental Genotoxins'. She expostulate students about chromosomal aberrations. She also spared her time to impart training workshop in Allium cepa assay. She extensively made students aware about the process of how these assays are utilized for testing various chromosomal aberrations.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her gratitude towards the guest speakers for providing such detail information to the students. She also honored the guests with a memento. She also congratulated Mrs Sadhna Tandon, Head, Department of Zoology and the other faculty members for the success of program.
