Ludhiana, October 4, 2019: Environment Awareness Movement alias Vatavaran Chetna Muhim was organised at Ramgarhia Girls College (RGC) Ludhiana by Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala and N.S.S Department, Punjabi University, Patiala.
The motive of the movement was to spread awareness about the damages caused by the crop residue burning in Punjab. The members of Punjab Pollution Control Board lead the movement and N.S.S volunteers of the college participated in the movement.
Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Education Council considered the movement to be the need of the hour for it is causing damage not only to the environment but results negatively for human health also. He said that the paddy burning must be stopped and needed steps must be taken to spread awareness among farmers.
Principal Dr.Inderjit Kaur asserted that such movements always achieve the desired goal when young generation also gets involved in it. The adverse situation can be reversed if farmers who burn paddy crop would act diligently to save the environment as it is the main cause of air pollution today. She expressed confidence that the paddy burning would be reduced this year.
