Engineers Get Training In Maintenance Of Submersible Pumps At PAU

Ludhiana, November 6, 2015: A three-day training course on “Operation and Maintenance of Submersible Pumps and Electric Motors” concluded the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. Junior engineers, technicians and mechanics from the State Agriculture Department participated in the course.

According to Dr R.S.Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, the experts educated the trainees about different types of agricultural pump sets and their testing; operation and maintenance of submersible pumps and electric motors; development of tubewells; and selection of pump sets for drip and sprinkler irrigation systems.

Meanwhile, a training course on “Concept of Farming System and Its Limitations” would be organized on November 9 and 10 for agriculture officers, agriculture and horticulture development officers, district extension specialists and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The experts would dwell on the scope of crop diversification in farming systems, role of growing vegetables in increasing the productivity of a farming system, increasing profitability by growing fruit plants in farming system, utilization of crop residue for mushroom production, role of agro- forestry in farming system, nutrient cycling in farming systems, and beekeeping as an important component for increasing the productivity of a cropping system. Besides, experts would highlight the role of livestock, fish culture and poultry in farming system. Discussions on increasing profitability of a system through floriculture, recycling the farm waste for energy generation, and organic farming as a competent of framing system would also be held.
