Energy Conservation Day celebrated

Ludhiana, December 1, 2017: Electrical Engineering Department, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana in association with the Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local centre organized the Energy Conservation Day today. The function coincided with the valedictory session of one week long QIP short term training program on Emerging Trends and Advancements in Energy Sector.
On this day, two expert lectures were organized. In first lecture, Dr.Y.S.Brar, Professor, IKG PTU, Kapurthala gave an insight into saving of power using optimization techniques. In second lecture, Dr.Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Professor, NIT, Kurukshetra gave an insight as how the consumer will gain full control with introduction of smart grid. The Chief Guest of the day was Brig. Mastinder Singh, SM, Chairman, Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local Centre. He said that energy conservation was the need of the hour. He gave an example as to how Nagpur had implemented Electric transport vehicles.
Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC, Ludhiana said that college would extend all support to the department for creating a centre of excellence for non conventional energy sources. Dr. Navneet Singh Bhangu, Coordinator of the course gave the summary of the proceedings of the program. Dr. Arvind Dhingra & Pf. Harmeet Singh Gill said that the program included hands on lab session with field visit to mini hydel plant at Khattra. Delivering the vote of thanks, Pf. Jaswinder Singh, HOD, Electrical Engineering Department thanked the participants, the Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local centre for their support in successful organization of the program.
Over 35 participants from various colleges alongwith members of the Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local centre attended the program.
