Enactus Dr S.S Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology
(UICET), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, a social entrepreneurship based
organisation of PU today organised Health Camp for Phulkari Artisans at Jagatpura.
More than 200 Phulkari Artisans got benefited in the health camp, which was organised in
collaboration with Max India foundation, a CSR initiative of MAX India group. The camp
was organised at Jeevan Mukt Nishulk Vidyalay, Jagatpura. These artisans for which this
camp was organised are part of project ‘Phulkari’ which is currently being undertaken by
the Enactus team.
Functioning under guidance of Faculty Advisor, Prof. Seema Kapoor, project ‘Phulkari’
aims to revive the textile art of phulkari. Phulkari is an integral part of Punjab’s
culture and over the years is losing its authentic touch as there remain only a handful
embroiders, mostly women, who continue to make Phulkari’s. The big chunk of profit was
being taken by the middlemen. This problem was solved by Enactus team as it directly
