Emphasize effective implementation of "tap water

Dharamshala, November 13, 2019: Jal Shakti, Horticulture and Sainik Welfare Minister Mahendra Singh Thakur said that in order to provide better drinking water facilities to the general public, the "Every household has water from tap"(Har Ghar me Nal se Jal) scheme has been launched by the central government.

He said that effective steps have been taken for smooth implementation of the scheme. He instructed departmental officers to work with full dedication to achieve 100 percent target by 31st March 2020 under the scheme.

Thakur was speaking at a meeting with officials of Jal Shakti Circle Dharamshala in the auditorium of Atma Project in Palampur on Wednesday while reviewing the ongoing development plans in the area.

He said that more than 300 schemes of the state have been included under the Har Ghar me Nal se Jal project of the central government. He said that the ambitious project was sent to the Government of India to provide full drinking water facility to partially covered habitations.

Thakur said,” The Government of India has recommended funding of Rs 700 crore in the first phase of the project through the New Development Bank. This will benefit 2427 rural settlements in 943 villages.” Minister inquired about the progress of the projects and directed to complete the projects within the stipulated time by expediting incomplete works. He said that those works which have not been started yet , should be started immediately.

He told the officials that if there is any problem in meeting the targets, then it should immediately be brought to his attention so that problems can be resolved. “pay attention on the quality of work and negligence in work will not be tolerated at any stage,” he added.

He said that Shiva project has also been approved for the state, through which farmers and gardeners will get the facility of sprinkler and drip irrigation.

He thanked the Central Government for providing adequate funds for various schemes for the development of the state.

Minister also discussed in detail about the other ongoing projects. On this occasion, the Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer of Dharamshala Zone were present in the meeting.
