Amity University Haryana organized INSPIRE Internship Program: Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research, which is an initiative of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India at the AMITY University Campus, a five day program started today from 27th Nov, 2018 to 1st Dec,2018. The program is aimed at inspiring young minds of India to take up science as a career and benefit the students to interact with various renowned Scientists and researchers. This program has given an opportunity to the students to participate in various activities.The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth of the country the excitements of creative pursuit of science, attract talent to the study of science at an early age and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science & Technology system and R & D base.
Dr Vikas Madhukar, Director Amity University Gurgaon while introducing about the program mention that there is overwhelming response from the various schools, more than 250 science students of class 11th and 12th from 18 schools (Rishi Public School, Amity International School, DAV Public School, Holy Child Public School etc.) of Delhi-NCR, and Haryana have participated on the first day of this program. Dr Madhukar also mentioned that the Science Camps organized under INSPIRE is a step to orient and expose young talented students to creative pursuits of science at their formative stage. These Science Camps will generate inquisitiveness to these bright minds and satiate their hunger to know more and more. Students participating in this Science Camp, may become the future torch bearers to lead science and research in the country as well as globally.
After traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries, Prof P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana and Dr Padmakali Banerjee, Pro Vice-Chancellor Amity University Haryana welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Ajay Ghatak, M N Saha Professor of National Academy of Sciences, India.
Prof Padmakali Banerjee while addressing the students said, “The world is changing and we are moving to a better world and I know that all of you are going to be a great leader in your respective fields.”
Prof.(Dr)P B Sharma, Vice-Chancellor Amity University Haryana in his session on “Brainstorming on Innovative Idea in the Field of Science & Technology” called for development of scientific temper among the youth of the nation. Science has the power to solve the problems present in the world like environment and health related and youth of the nation has heavy responsibility of working for the millions of our countrymen in the service, Prof.(Dr). In his inaugural address topic ‘Einstein and his year of miracles’ Prof.Ajoy Ghatak talked about the theories of Einstein and also explained E=MC2 in easier terms. He also gave detailed presentation on the application of laser and its functioning.
A session on ‘Mystery Behind Science’from National Science Centre (Ministry of Culture, Govt of India) was also attended by the students in which Mr B B Shrivastava, Education Officer gave demonstration of science experiments followed by Liquid Nitrogen Show.
